Copyright Friendly Images

Using Images Appropriately

One of the biggest problems we have using the Internet is the "borrowing" of images.  All images on the Internet (just like the words) are owned by someone, so you can't just take them and use them without permission.  Below are some links to places that you can go to get images whose owners have provided permission.  Some will ask you to pay for the use of the image, but some are free.  You will still need to give attribution for them, but at least you will know who owns the rights to them!

Similar to pics4learning, this site has safe searching for students through Creative Commons (specifically Flickr), but downloaded images include attribution information.

William Vann's EduPic Graphical Resource provides images for educators and students to use.

Unsplash is a site set up by photographers to share their work for free. Attribution is appreciated, but not required!

Pics4Learning

Pics4Learning provides copyright free images for students to use in their projects.  They also provide a proper citation for you to copy and paste to give credit.

Search for images with Creative Commons licensing to use in projects. You will need to find the information you need and create citations for these images.

Land Cover Trends Field Photo Map includes lots of images of various parts of the country. The images are tied to the map, but most are copyright and royalty free because they are in the public domain.. They do still need to be cited.
